Now, I am by
no means a fashion critic, but there are a few aspects of this article
that I agree with. There are a hell of a lot of women on this campus
who do dress exactly as this article states. They run around in skin
tight clothes or hardly any clothes at all. While they do get the
stares and cat calls from some men, and probably some women (who knows),
these poor girls often become the targets for comments on the way they
dress by other students, usually women on campus. I myself have made
comments about the way other women are dressed. I personally am not
jealous of these women, all though other women may be. Why? I can't
even begin to imagine why. More power to women if they are proud
of who they are and want to show themselves off. But hell, they need
to have a little bit of sense before they emerge from their rooms in the
morning.
What the hell
is it with the skirts that are slit up to mid thigh or the mini's that
leave nothing to the imagination? PUH-LEASE! Part of the charm a
woman has is her mysteriousness and baring all to the world does not leave
much mystery.
However, I do
not agree with the last paragraph of the article. I hang out with
a lot of white girls and not one of us dresses like a "Trailer Park Tramps".
We are happy in our jeans, T-shirts, sweatshirts. We do dress up
now and then, but we have enough sense to not leave the house wearing outfit
that screams "FUCK ME!". But hey, maybe I have no guts as far as
fashion goes. I won't leave my house wearing a tube top and a short
skirt if I was paid too. I think that my clothes fit fine into the
fashion world. So what if they are boring? I really don't give a shit what
the media or people say. I am going to class to learn not to show
myself off to people.
So, Ladies,
Dress as you so desire, but beware of the proverbial flies on the wall
that are making snide remarks at your expense.
